Christmas part 1

This year on the 23 Dec I had  lunch with my dad, aunt and sisters,  It is really nice to have your family surrounding you and to catch up with each other.  In this day and time it's difficult to find the time due to all our busy schedules and responsibilities.

Lunch at Goodwood Park Hotel was great I had scallops for the appetiser, pork steak for the main course and Baked apple with ice cream for desert. I didn't take many photos of the food as I was preoccupied chatting merrily away with my family.

But we did take a bunch of lovely family photos together .... The staff there were really nice to assist us in snapping a bunch of pics.

On Christmas eve dear and I went for the mid night mass, the church was packed. I am really glad that my heart was filled with assurance and love by god that evening.  Sometimes in life things can get so messed up that I forget there is always god to turn to. ..

I haven't had the inspiration or energy to blog much lately as there is so much going on in my life right now, will continue to write more on christmas when my I am in a better mood.

Delicious food at ikea

Say Swedish meatballs and one place always comes to mind, the one and only IKEA, not only is it an awesome place to get well designed affordable furniture it is also an awesome place to dine.

Recently dear, his nephew and I went to dine at Ikea, we had the Christmas platter, chicken wings smoked salmon, beef steak and the famous delicious meatballs that I am a sucker for.

In all we spent about $30, really worth it for a sumptuous meal.

If you do have the time do pop down to Ikea to give their Christmas Platter a try, it is really worth the cost.
set 1: Poached Salmon with Chive Sauce, Mini Log cake and Bottle of Sparkling Juice.
set 2: Roast Turkey Breast, Virginia Ham, Baby Potato, Baby Carrot, Triangle Roll, Meatball Sauce and mini Butter.

Although the cafe is always crowded being able to bask in the christmassy ambiance more then makes up for it.The lighting are just so beautiful, making you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

After dinner we browsed around the store, I just love looking at the displays, imagine what my future home would look like. All the displays had a nice christmas twist to it, making me feel like just poping in to have a mini party haha.

Shortly after we went to Giant which was just across the road, there we bought dear's nephew a remote control car for his upcoming birthday. The kid picked it himself and was overjoyed with his new toy. It only cost $10 ! Goodness back when I was a kid I had a limited choice to choose from and toys were much more expensive then they are now.

.

Am glad dear and I brought a smile to the kiddo's face :) He chose a convertible because he wanted to give the miniature panda's a ride , Haha...

As Christmas is a time for giving and sharing Ikea has some charitable events and campaigns going on such as the soft toy for education campaign. For every soft toy or children's book sold €1 will go to raising money and awareness of how childhood education can break the cycle of poverty.

and on 2 Dec they had the Soft Toy Christmas Tree Auction at IKEA Alexandra proceeds going to the Singapore Children’s Society.

I am glad to see that Ikea is very active in playing a part in social responsibility and is not only driven by making profits.I just hope that more companies would follow in  their footsteps.

It is said that it is more blessed to give then to receive perhaps this christmas instead of hoping for more presents we could spare a thought for those who are less fortunate then us.

My love hate affair with Sim Social

Ah ... Sim Social ....

But first a little history on the sims...

When I was in primary 6 my elder sis brought home this game called The Sims and I instantly fell in love with it. It was a hit world wide as well, like come on who wouldn't like building your dream home and decorating it as well as controlling a person to do what ever you please with him or her.

I would spent hours each day playing this game running my sims's life, taking snap shots with the camera mode and writing mini stories about them... I even saved up to buy all the expansion, in these expansions came  new furniture, functions and event, it was a treat each time I got one.

Then came The Sims 2, at first I withheld buying the series as I amused that it would roughly be the same old stuff and functions as the first batch.  Well in the end I gave in to my curiosity and bought the sims 2,  I was hooked... the graphics were awesome and now they even added in a life cycle, in the previous version your sims never grew old and a child sim would stay as one forever.

A couple of years later came The sims 3, I bought the first instalment and stopped there because I felt that it was ridiculous buying the same game and concept all over again. Yes there are many new functions and the graphics were great but will this sim cycle never end ?

Years later EA launched sim social on Facebook, ah finally a sim game I can play without spending money ... Wrong, I started playing for a while and hated the fact that you needed energy and most of the items needed sim cash.  Well game firms need to make money in order to survive I guess so can we blame them?

I stopped for a couple of months as there wasn't much I could do in the game server months later I went back to playing as I was bored.  To my surprise there were many improvements, such as the time you waited for energy was shorten and there was plenty more furniture to choose from and most importantly the game doesn't crash as often as when it was first launched.

There are still a couple of things that I dislike in the game like the short amount of time given to complete each quest and most of the stuff has to be made from scratch by gathering items to craft it. The easy way out is to buy sim cash to purchase those items you needed but spending real money on a virtual game? Well I have to admit that I gave in a couple of times but in the long run, I don't really like spending hard earned money on sometime so frivolous and what if they shut the game down one day just like Restaurant city wouldn't all your "investments" go down the drain?

Restaurant City2

Well in the name of fun, I continue to play this game to pass time.  I chose to add more friends to my account to obtain the crafting materials inst4ead of buying sim cash, I have also  made some friends during this process as we helped each other through each quest or level that we wanted to attain. On the downside some people feel that it's an invasion of their privacy adding strangers. So far I guess I have been lucky, no weird stalkers or anything...

All in all, I still love this game, yes it pisses me off at times but the amount of joy and satisfaction of completing each quest out weights the cons of this game.

Well that's my thoughts on Sim Social, Love it or hate it I believe it is here to stay for a long time ... So keep up the good work EA Team ...

10 thing not to do to your hair

We all know that first impression always count, your hair plays a part in giving that good impression.

No one likes dull, brittle hair, it makes you look dowdy and very unpolished.

                                                       how to fix frizzy hair

Well as they say prevention is always better then cure so here are 10 things to
avoid doing to your crowning glory to prevent fuzziness and hair fall.

1. Do not get multiple treatments like colouring and straightening at/around same time. Give your hair some rest.

2. Do not use the same shampoo for months together. It's always a good idea to keep changing the brand.

3.Do not tumble dry hair as this is rough on hair follicles and causes root damage and hair loss.

4.Do not tie wet hair as they are weak then, and the traction could lead to hair fall.

5.Do not comb wet hair rigorously. wet hair will shed more, so avoid combing them again and again.

6.Do not tie your tresses in a bun all the time, if you have long hair. This can lead to traction alopecia and lead to hairfall as well.

7.Do not tie your hair too tightly ,a hair style shouldn't hurt. This cause tiny bumps to develop on your scalp and increases hair fall.

8.Do not expose your hair to excessive sunlight, it causes your hair to dry up and the UV rays from the sun can damage your scalp.

9.Do not use your fingernails when washing or scrubbing your hair, this will scratch the scalp causing it to peel and eventually you will end up with dandruff. So be gentle ! and scrub with your finger tips.

10. Do not excessively wet your hair , when wet water breaks down the natural Hydrogen in hair.

Take care and take good care of your hair, till next post ta ta for now...

After a couple of months of saving and waiting for the best price, I finally got my Camera !

Bet you can't imagine how much time and effort I took looking for this camera, going from shop to shop and even online, biding on eBay.  I place my bid and gave up when the price of the white version was too expensive,  please the camera is obviously  not worth $900.  I can easily get a SLR with that kind of money.

Places where you can get you hands on this camera :
  1. Gain city - going at $950
  2.  Best Denki going at $820
  3. http://www.styloshop.com going at $648
  4. and until Sunday 25 Nov 2012 the Sitex show at expo going at $769

* Disclaimer -  Prices may vary or have changed, Please contact the dealers.

My experience at Gain city wasn't a good one as the sales man totally ignored me when I asked a few question, he focused on a tall chio lady who was trying out the camera instead, talk about bad service! Oh well fewer products sold lower commission I guess, no lost to me.

During my search for the camera,I came to realise that many major electronic stores don’t carry the casio brand, I wonder why, it’s an awesome brand.

Anyway, I got my red camera which is said to be the limited edition, from the Sitex show at $769.  I really dislike the fact that you need to buy the camera in a bundle package which increases the cost of the camera.
It came along with the  EX –Z28, not too shabby and easy to use. I’m going to give that to dear’s mother as a christmas gift as I know she loves taking photo and is currently using her handphone to do so, I hope she likes it.

Along with the bundle came a whole bunch of freebies with includes 2 camera casing, 1 8gb memory card, 1 table tripod, 1 cleaning kit, memory card reader and a casio lanyard and screen cleaner.   Boy am I a sucker for freebies haha, I felt the screen cleaner is really handy as this is a touch screen camera after all.

Other then the package deals thingy, I am very satisfied with the camera’s functions. It’s really compact and light 122 x 59 x 14mm in size & weighs about 157g. I’ll definitely bring it wherever I go!
It evens doubles up as a video camera with HD quality and slow motion playback definitely a plus for me as a montage designer.

Other features of the cam includes:
12.1 Megapixels
Back-illuminated CMOS sensor
Countdown Timer
Wide Angle 21mm Single-Focus Lens
3.0 inch Super Clear LCD Screen
Face-recognition
High Speed Anti-Shake
Full HD Movie
Make-Up Mode
Decorative Function

All in all it is an awesome cam whoring camera with it’s sleek flexibility and make up mode to make you look flawless! What else can a girl ask for in a camera?

Well am off to explore my cam now, thanks for reading my post :)

My 25th Birthday

Hi all , I'm officially a quarter of a century old!

This year was extra special for me because my family, deary and collages at work  took the effort to surprise me.

The celebrations began on Thursday when my collages had a triple celebration for Albert, Angel and Me.  We had birthday cupcakes!

Angel my manager was very sweet, she gave me a bottle of  erm some kind of pastry from Rive Gauche Patisserie, she said she didn't know what to get me and this looked tasty or can be use as a decorative item.
It tasted great, melts in your mouth. If any of you know what it's called please tell me lol, would love to purchase another bottle.

Starting your day on a positive note

I remembered reading an article somewhere that said that starting you day on a positive note will help shape your day.

At first I thought that it was a whole bunch of crap, not worth trying and a total waste of my time being positive in the morning? Honestly? Come on especially when you have just woken up,all grouchy thinking great it's Monday time to get ready for work. Totally impossible to do, especially when you are prone to having the Monday blues.

Well amazingly this morning it was different for me,I somehow managed to summon the strength to think positively instead of being my usual grouchy morning self.

To boost my moral and keep myself positive, I recalled all the things that I have heard or read somewhere to make yourself confident and perky. I remembered my ex-colleague used to say that when you dress well it not only makes you look good but feel good. So I picked out a top, pants and a pair of earrings that I really liked.

On the bus, I kept repeating in my head the stuff that I was going to achieve at work today, blissfully day dreaming. Had a cup of my favourite Campbell instant soup for breakfast and began my work.

Well as we all know we can't control how things go, my day wasn't exactly peachy.
But somehow no matter what obstacles I faced today I managed to handle it calmly and not freak out as I usually do.

Goes to show that what I took as crap was actually something valuable to learn, perhaps I should learn not to pass judgement too quickly

Positive thoughts leads to positive outcomes....

Time for Change

In a couple of weeks time, I will be turning 25.

Looking back the last decade or so, I am somewhat proud and yet saddened at the same time.
I am proud of the fact that everything I own and have is earned with hard work and determination on my part and yet there is always this nagging feeling that I could have accomplished so much more if given the same opportunities and support that my peers received.

I have realised that this awful feeling has turned me into a horrible, vindictive person that I do not wish to be.
Yes, in life I was mostly handed the shorter end of the stick and being forced to grow up so quickly because of my circumstances.

Perhaps the reason for being so emo all the time is partly because I'm a Scorpio.

Well, Scorpio or not it's time for a change!

God has blessed me in many ways and I have to learn how to count my blessings. He has given me the love of my life who showers me with love and constant support in all I do.

Well, it's time to snap out of it and stop being a sourpuss, with my trust in God and a little support from time to time I believe I can change to be a better person.

So wish me luck!
