A sudden call to work from home - It was a Monday evening when I got a message from work to start working from home, a first in my entire career.  A thousand cases were reported every day and a precaution of limiting human traffic at work and public areas were set. 


Sluggish and unproductive lifestyle while working from home during Covid-19 April 2020 - Yes, I have to admit the after my wedding in October last year till April this year I was very out of shape unmotivated and downright sluggish.  I got the case of post-wedding fatigue, 2018 & 2019 was filled with endless arrangements and decision, coordination crafts and meeting. My reward was a wedding that went smoothly without a hitch, the price I paid a toll on my mental wellbeing. I was exhausted and not raring to go I was functioning but like a snappy zombie.

Hitting rock bottom and searching for a healthier lifestyle - I was tired of going through the motions of daily life and began my search for answers. Where else but the bible. I began my bible reading on good Friday. No god didn't ask me to exercise through his good book but with the guidance of the holy spirit gave me motivation. I googled no gym equipment small space and working out in an apartment,  Leslie Sansone was the result.

Leslie Sansone Walk @ home program on youtube - I started out by taking baby steps and following her weekly routine Mondays to Fridays, about a week later my stamina has improved and now I walk 3 miles daily. Sometimes I even have the urge to add in another exercise in the late evening.  The beauty of her program is that you have choices of how long you would like to walk for, be it a mile, 10 minutes, 15 minutes there are just so many videos to choose from.

Results from doing the walk @ home exercise routine - It has only been two weeks since I started the program not much difference in the weight department but I have a much toner body.  I am determined to continue with the work out program as it helps me feel energized. I don't feel as sluggish as I used to and I yawn a whole lot less. My cheeks are bright red rosy. These are the perks of exercising, healthy heart, healthy mind and endorphins, happy hormones.

Home Exercise Buddy/Bestie - My sister joins me for 45 minutes of exercise every now and then and it sure helps to motivate you to push on. Get your family members to join you cause Leslie Sansone's walk at-home exercises is made for people of all ages. The moves may seem simple but they really pack a punch.

The thing about exercise is that you have to keep searching for what you can enjoy and what you can withstand. When you don't like some form of exercise chances are you won't stick to it. Keep searching and never stop trying until you find the right fit.

Singapore Fun Run Activities - Singapore is no stranger to Fun Runs and there are many Singapore running events nowadays, a few past events from this year include Pokémon Run, Snoopy Run and Hello Kitty Run. I find it a win-win situation because you get to be entertained by your beloved character while keeping fit and the best part is that everyone who completed the race is a winner everyone gets a medal at the end for most fun races.

Hello Kitty Run 2018 Singapore - A few Sundays ago I took part in the Hello Kitty Race and would like to share my experience because it was my the first ever themed run. It all started with my friend wanting to take part in a competitive race and asked if I would like to join her, knowing that we weren’t in the right physic to keep up with competitive races I suggested on participating in a fun run instead.

Hello Kitty Run Singapore Race Organisers – It began to rain at about 4am in the morning, I knew that because I was awakened by the sound of thunder. The organizer Pink Apple Pte Ltd were very responsible, they sent out SMSs at 6:53 AM stating that they are monitoring the situation, about an hour later we received another message that the race will carry on.


Running in The Rain – My friend and I reached The Promontory at Marina Bay at 7:30am and was part of the first flag off at 8:35am, it was light rain, so we were advised by the organizer to walk instead of run due to the ground being slippery. A Hello Kitty Mascot made an appearance and the crowds cheered for her as she prances across the stage and danced. Undamped by the weather everyone was raring to go, many have continued to jog the entire race while other walked with ponchos and umbrellas. Thankfully the skies did clear an hour into the race.

Ready To Go! Picturesque 5 KM race – Walking pass the art science museum singapore, Gardens By the Bay, Marina Bay Sands and Marina Barrage was epic, one can’t help but admire the sights and sounds, the scenery of open sea and greenery was a nice change from the constraints of office life. The lotus pond Art Science Museum is my favourite area, the pink and purple shades of the lilies and lotus brings a sense of calm and relaxation to one’s senses.

The Beautiful Hello Kitty Race Pit Stops - In this 5KM - There were a total of 3 pit stops, Durian Zone, Lemon Zone and Strawberry Zone, all decked with stunning balloon arches with colours that represent the fruit, water stations were situated within these pit stops serving various flavours of teas from Pokka’s range of beverages as well as water. My favourite is the strawberry station because it had a cut-out stand of hello kitty dressed as a strawberry.

Lively Post-Race CarnivalWe finished the race at about 9:50AM, collected our medal and head on to the carnival, we were handed out ice popsicle, apples, and Pokka tea was we made our way to the carnival. There were several tents conducting games and selling products from the various sponsors and a live performance; a duet singing popular tunes of today.


The downside to the event was after the heavy downpour the field was very muddy and full of holes making it difficult to navigate around the area. We took a gif photo which cost us $5.00, a little disappointing because you could barely see our faces in the photo, not very well done but I guess everything was done in a hurry with many others waiting for their turn. The muddy environment was too much for us as the afternoon sun rose we made our way home.

Although exhausted, sweaty and drizzled in rainwater, we had fun and would definitely take part in the next Fruitful Hello Kitty Run Event, the medal is so adorable! A race where everyone is a winner? Count me in!

My Workout Plan for Everyone In Singapore - Last April I did a blog post about the best and effective workout routine. I posted a photo of my progress on Instagram which resulted in an astounding amount of messages from ladies from all over the world. Many were asking which LWR videos did I follow. A couple of ladies mentioned that they have the same body type as me and would be most grateful if I could share my diet and exercise routine with them and I think this will be a  perfect workout plan which will suit every Singapore girl.

I decided that writing a new post would be the most effective way to reach out to more ladies who have a body shape similar to mine.

What is the best Workout for you? – First of all I understand Lucy’s fitness programs are for 7 days however I am unable to commit the full 7 days because of time constraints and my body needed time to recuperate; I get soreness and aches after some exercises and need the rest before I start again. I opted for a 3 day 30mins workout as an alternative, always choose a routine that is easy to commit to, this would increase the chances of actually following thru and not giving up halfway.

In my 20s, I was in a nasty predicament which caused me to lead a very unhealthy lifestyle; I basically ate my feelings or depended on food for that extra “boost” of energy to get thru the workday and studies by night. Hence causing me to gain a huge amount of weight. I also tried all sort of “quick fixes” such as sliming teas and pills which only made matters worse.


For about 2 years I signed up for an all-women’s gym, my weight did go down but not significantly, The annual fees were expensive and I hated that the company wanted to maximize its profits by dividing the already tiny gym into an uncomfortably cramp space, coherently conducting fitness classes. Facing a wall using a stationary bike with just enough space for the bike was too cramped and I felt rather claustrophobic.


At my new job I was blessed to have a gym within the office, equipped with a few machines I was thrilled, without a trainer, I was unsure of which exercises were beneficial and I  also realized that my arms only became bulkier when working with dumbbells and weights.


The eureka moment - was when I found a video from a post shared on Facebook by You're Gorgeous, Being a klutz, I was surprised the exercise was not complicated but rather easy to follow and in a couple of weeks, my arms were noticeably toner.

Best exercise program on YouTube - Hungry for more of these life-changing exercises, I clicked on the link which leads me to Lucy Wyndham-Read YouTube channel. To my amazement, she had a whole array of exercise videos specially designed for varies body shapes and age ranges.

Bite-sized exercise – I liked how the exercise sessions were choreographed, each video is planned in such a way that it only takes a couple of minutes to complete, perfect for my lunchtime workout at the office, especially when I have just enough  time to squeeze in a quick work out and have my lunch after.



Beautifully illustrated work-out characters On Lucy’s website she has put together workouts programs in plan form for different body shapes and diffrent stages of a women’s life which includes ; college days, weddings, postnatal and menopause etc. Her cardio characters, kind of reminded me of the Barbie dolls storybooks which I used to read as a child but the main difference is the cardio characters are very much more realistic and relatable as they are based on real-life situations.

Extremely affordable workout plans - Ranging from £7.99 to £9.99 which is about SGD$17.00 it is a very worthwhile investment.I recently purchased one of her plans and tried my best to follow it closely, the results were awesome!  I have received compliments on being toner. Her plans and videos are the best advice that I ever received, No fitness equipment was required just by using my own body weight during the workouts was sufficient. There are even yummy food recipes within these nifty workout ebooks, Indeed it is a perfect fitness solution for the masses.


Positive Role Model – Lucy is extraordinary, she constantly shares motivational and inspiring quotes on self-acceptance on Instagram. She is very realistic about body image teaching others on working to be the best that we can be and not to be fazed by the perceptions given to us by celebrities.


Lucy Wyndham-Read is a fitness trainer with 25 years’ experience and was in the British Army for 5 years. She has 280 Million YouTube subscriber 28 million views and featured on British television stations as well as a fitness expert for various magazines and newspapers. She is also an influencer on social media and had collaborated with brands such as Suzuki, Twitter, Cancer Research and FitBit.

Keep up the good work Lucy, you have truly changed my life and perception of how to keeping fit.
