Trip to Rainbow Village Taichung - World's most colorful Town in Taiwan. Singapore's Lifestyle & Travel Blogger - Sweet Bunny

Trip To Rainbow Village Taiwan - Hello Everyone; One of the stops of my last trip to Taiwan in December was the Rainbow Villiage in Taichung, Nantun District which is the world's the most colourful place and a modern makeover town in Taiwan.

There used to be many of such houses across Taiwan but as time pass the land was given to building developers by the government.

6 special and coolest items in Taiwan you must buy - Sweet Bunny

Last December, I went on a guided tour in Taiwan and during the eventful trip, I found 6 great buys:

Made in Taiwan Umbrellas -On one of the days during my trip, the tour guide did an introduction to Taiwan made umbrellas.  Enticed by her vivid description I want on a search for the ultimate umbrella! I have heard about that Taiwan umbrella manufacturers are manfectring best umbrellas as well.

These brollies open and close with a press of a button which makes it awesome because I always get into fights with the conventional ones, ending with cuts when I am closing it, being nicked by the sharp blades is no walk in the park and would take a massive time to heal.

Taiwan Day 2

If I could turn back time I would set it back to the second day of my trip to Taiwan....

After a hearty breakfast of toast, porridge, fried noodles, eggs and soya bean milk oh how I miss the soya bean milk from the hotel. Dear and I decided to go to Ta Shee Blooming Oasis (大溪 花海農場)!!!

It was a long journey from Ximen to Taoyuan, we went by rail to a bus station and caught a 2 hour bus ride to Tau yuan. I forgotten to mention in my last post that I have been hopping around taipei due to the muscle strain during my paintball match lol -.- Dear kept teasing me saying I walk like a grandmother or a crab sideways downhill, Taipei is full of steps which was total torcher for me.But what the hell I was on holiday and was striving to make the best of it.

Our bus dropped us at Statue park where there is a very lovely lake and you guessed it Statues of historical people in Taiwan, The flowers interest me more so we went straight to Ta Shee Blooming Oasis.

The flower dear and I really wanted to see the most was the lavender, as we have never seen real life ones before. We were a little disappointed because the lady at the entrance said that the season was over and not many were left.

When we walked up the hill we were thrilled !!! There were some lavender flowers left along with a lot of other lovely flowers ! If you are a nut for flowers like I am this is definitely a place to go !

Dear and I instantly became shutterbugs hoping to capture all the beauty of the flower in photography  but like what dear always says a camera can never capture or do justice to what the eyes sees, an object live in all it's splendour .

The place even has a tractor ride that brings visitors for one end of the place to another, it was a big hit with the kids.

The mini barn where they housed goats and rabbits was awesome too, pay 100 NTD to feed the rabbits. It's delightful to feed these adorable furry creatures, I got quite angry when some horrid kid kept poking the poor defenceless animal with a carrot :(  Thankfully he stopped after I glared at him.

This is dear's favourite rabbit :P it had a very cute grey coat.Wished we could bring it home.

We had waffles and ice cream for lunch because most of the other items were out of stock.
After Lunch we continued our walk around this lovely place, look even the trees were flowering ! Nothing beats going back to nature....

Someone once wrote If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.
Indeed, Looking back I sometimes wished I could just live there and read books all day long ...Away from the hectic lifestyle... A simple life ...

We headed to the nearby 愛情故事館, which was just round the corner.Nothing much just a couple of cute exhibits and shops selling the local snacks and treats.

Then next we made our way to Tomita Garden Farm ~ Teddy Bear theme farm. It was a little disappointing...The ever popular teddy bear house was closed for renovations due to change of ownership of the place. But we had the consolation of being able to see lavender and sunflowers which were taller than those in Tashee, they were said to be planted later.

The mansion was lovely,  I could spot it when I was at tashee, up in the hills .
I thought it was a place where someone very rich lived haha ...

There were many "love:" themed items on display for couple who want to have their pre-wedding shots taken with all these lovely flowers.

when you buy the entry tickets you are given 100 NTD voucher to spend on anything at the giftshop so dear and I used our vouchers to buy this lovely musical carousel, as I always wanted one. I know they are available in SG but they are very costly . Got mine at 200 NTD after using the discount vouchers.
What a steal !

Well I'll Stop here haha apologies for the long post will continue part two of day two soon  :p
Thanks for reading.

I just realised that the second part of part 2 is too short to write as a post due to the lack of photos and we just had dinner in a hurry because we were starving  lol... so am just gonna post all about it here.

After we visited Tomita Garden Farm ~ Teddy Bear theme farm, we waited for 2 hours before our bus came, Taiwan is a huge place so be prepared to wait for your bus, on the bright side the locals are super helpful and friendly, without their kindness dear and I wouldn't be able to travel from place to place at such ease. The bus ride was really long so by the time we reached the bus station it was about 8pm.We had dinner in a near by Japanese cafe which served mostly fried food so we just had bento sets.Apologies no pictures cos we were too tired from travelling lol .

We chanced upon an adorable store selling Sanrio characters, namely hello kitty, keroppi and my all time fav my melody !!!

The items sold were very affordable compared to what we have in sg, knowing how much I love my melody dear bought me a plush and a handphone cover. The  cashier was very nice she asked if we were members, dear replied if we were we would only be for the week, oh your tourist she replied, never mind I just give you the members discount. It's very sweet of her :)

The Handphone cover cost only 170NTW and the plush cost 270NTW. where else can you get lovely melody at this prices? In the cheapest one I can find is $30 sgd.

Thank you dear for the gifts :)

Taiwan - Day 1

We arrived on at the Tao Yuan airport at 5 am and made our way to the bus station from there we took bus 1819 to Taipei main station. The bus driver was really nice tagging our luggage with serial numbers and passing us a coupon, loading our luggages in the luggage compartment .

At the entrance of the Taipei main station hungry we had a quick bite at Mos Burger.Breakfast was on the menu, a little different from the Singapore branch  . Dear and I had a vegetarian burger made of rice and some tau pok looking thingy and an egg and ham burger. Ingredient used was super fresh. For drinks we had the ever popular internationally Mos burger milk tea and milk coffee.

Apologies for the wrapped up rice burger, It can get a little messy when exposed.

Yippee for coffee and milk tea!

After breakfast we quickly made our way via MRT to Ximending where our hotel, I Trip Taipei Inn to check in our luggage.

Location wise it's awesome, smack in the middle of Ximending and 10 minutes walk to MRT. Thanks to Expedia, TripAdvisor and my dear who is a genius in locating places we were able to find our way to the hotel easily.

Directions are : From Ximen MRT Exit 6, take the Right "Han Zhong St", walk until you pass 7-11 and starbucks (on your right), then turn LEFT into "Wun Chang St", walk until you pass another 7-11 (on your right), you should reach the cross-junction "Xi Ning South Rd", and there on the RIGHT is the building (Shi Zhi Lin) credit to cgk123 on TripAdvisor.

The staff there were super helpful and kind they were always ready to provide us with directions to places of interest and even loan us a universal adaptor plug when we ask where we could purchase one.

We stayed in room 207 and were delighted to have a window.

In Taiwan most hotels check in timing is 3pm which is a bummer :(

It was only 6am when we reached the hotel and most of the shops only open after 11 am, bored dear approached a security guard to ask what was available.   He was a very nice chap indeed, very cheery told us well since it's early why don't you catch a movie, the museums are open as well.

To the museum it was,  heading towards National Palace Museum from Ximending we took a MRT to Shilin
and caught a bus.We were all very excited and wanted to get off the bus when the bus driver said in mandarin, hey we are not there yet, don't worry I'm not taking you to a place to be sold. Talk about great humour haha.

The museum is a must to visit with it's huge collection of fine chinese art, the collection is so vast that  museum has to exhibit the artifact on rotatory schedules. On weekends it's free entry, we were lucky to reach taipei on a saturday morning so we got to visit for free.

I love the exhibits, everything was so fully of culture and the meat stone and jade cabbage are really spectacular, I have seen it many times on screen in documentaries but no words can express the feeling of finally being able to see it live. There are a lot of other works of arts, the chinese ships and it ingenious  the design. Really worth a trip !

No photography is allowed inside so we mostly cam whored outside lol. I barely slept on the plane so please excuse my messy look.
Dear knew I am a sucker for stamps so he bought me a bunch of meat stone design taipei stamps.Awww.

Lunch, we were walking around shilin area where we came across this western food restaurant.

I can't read the title due to my dyslexia but I'm thankful that I'm able to understand and speak chinese well enough to get by haha, I mostly depended on dear for reading.

I simply adore the decor of fairy lights on the ceiling and colourful cups that greeted guests as we enter.
The food was cheap and good, free flow of drinks and ice cream if you order a set.The soup had a bread like crust kindda reminded me of Country Manna restaurant in Sg .

Dear had the beef steak while I had chicken chop, portions were very generous.

After walking around for a couple of hour and getting a sim card so we could surf the net and make calls back home to let our parent know we arrived safely, we headed back to the hotel to rest and freshen up.

In the evening we headed back to shilin for the night market and for dinner, we got dear's baby  niece an adorable dress and had an awesome teppanyaki styled dinner and some bbq stuff they sell in the street stalls.Beer is really cheap too.

Well that was our first day in taipei, will update more on the other days we spent there when I got more time...
