Where to find reliable wedding vendors reviews A year before my wedding I became a dayre/ blogger stalker, I googled every vendor that caught my eye and researched on the reviews given by many wonderful ladies who gladly shared their experiences on their blogs. They shared about: Wedding invitation designs and Bridal Studios, Hotels, Dowry items etc. I also found that forums also provide a wealth of information on individual vendors, but some tend to be a little outdated so do try to be mindful on when each post is dated.

Locating the best bridal studios in Singapore - with Google maps - After reading all the blog and forum reviews, I was not convinced keen on choosing the more popular studios as their gowns were not to my liking. Businesses listed on google all have a review section, where you could look thru and judge for yourself if they are authentic or not. When you use the keywords such as bridal, bridal studio and wedding on google maps, a whole range of bridal studios will appear in the search results.

In these results, information such their opening hours, websites and most importantly a virtual tour which provides a glance of the exterior of the bridal studios, this function is a time saver. You don’t have to go down to each and every one; you can eliminate those that have many bad reviews and list down those that really caught your eye and as a bonus get to know another bridal studio that isn’t as popular but provide good service, do compare notes to unsponsored blog post and forums to really get down and scrutinize their service standards.

Using Carousel to source for vendors Some may describe the app as Carouhell but to me it is a treasure trove of home-based vendors selling flower, for a table centerpiece, designers for labels and stickers, budget printers for church booklets, when cost savings is your game you may also consider getting pre-loved wedding deco, if the items are in great condition and are used only once, a great way to go green as well less waste is always great for the environment. Just ensure that the vendors you pick have good reviews to lower your chances of face disappointments.

Popular wedding websites and wedding magazine online
Online magazines such as Her World Bridal Magazine ,  Female Magazine Bridal and Blissful BrideMagazine provide a great source of bridal articles online on a regular basis, from the photographs they usually state the vendors being featured. They also exclusively share on the different wedding venues so you can get a sense on the feel of the location. Wedding websites, on the other hand, have vendors paying to be listed on their list on their sites, but they do have comprehensive information about the vendor as well as reviews from people who sign on to the website, it does give a good gauge and another way you can evaluate a vendor, having different sources such as blog post, forums and a website can definitely assist in helping you decide if the vendor is worthwhile.

My Wedding Journey 1 – Planning your finances and budgeting - Sweet Bunny

When the word wedding comes to mind, how much it would cost oftern rings a bell.

The cost of a wedding in Singapore – The common ranges that I read and heard about are $10,000 for a simple wedding with a buffet reception, $40,000 for a church ceremony and dinner in the evening and it can go up to $100,000 for the very lavish weddings at 5-star Hotels, artisan wedding cakes, bridesmaid proposal and all the other fancy stuff you can imagine.

A rule of thumb an everyday couple should go by is not to expect your guest’s ang paos to foot the bill of your wedding. Relying on ang pao money is very risky; imagine the credit card bills and interest rates you would have to face if the ang bao money is not sufficient.

Ever since I was a child my father always advised me to never start a marriage in debt. He does randomly give me anecdotes on life every now and then when ,thank you papa for always making learning life skills fun.

Smart budgeting for weddings – This may seem strange to some but my fiance and I have been saving up for our wedding since the moment we went steady, I guess that the fact that we were both 28 at the time and knew we wanted to get married someday. We started a joint account and kept our saving in the OCBC Bonus account because the interest was good at that time.

Being money smart is the key to starting a life together on the right foot.

Wedding Planning Checklist – Having a wedding planning checklist is a great way to ensure that you have covered the essentials, always ensure to list down the critical must-haves for your wedding such as:
The venues, book it in advance, a year before your actual date this would give you a higher chance of securing the venue on a specific day as well as getting tables at a better rate.

Decor to be handmade by yourself or would you prefer to hire a vendor?

 Transportation.

Photography, videography

Most importantly of all, the bridal studio package.

List it all down, everything that comes to mind and strikes off items that you both agree aren't necessary.

A complete wedding timeline – Set a timeline with your hubby to be on when you would like to make certain purchases. This would give you ample time to save up for big-ticket items as well as estimate the time required to achieve each targeted items. With inflation and GST  rising, do ensure that you allocate a little extra for each item just in case.

Wedding Budget Planner – Microsoft Excel has many useful templates out of which I found a wedding budgeting template, featuring estimated and actual cost everything is itemized into categories for all your wedding needs in a neat and organized manner.

It is an excellent tool for gauging and keeping track of your cost. In turn, this will hopefully prevent one from over-spending and keeping to the budget.

Sticking to your wedding budget - Initially I found it hard to keep to my budget due to the many temptingly gorgeous adverts and displays, I guess it all comes down to being disciplined, keeping to your budget doesn’t mean not having anything fancy at all, it just means selecting a few things that you are willing to splurge on while cutting down on items that you are willing to overlook.

As stressful as wedding planning can be, do take time to breathe. Ensure that you make decisions at the right state of mind, never sign a contract at the heat of the moment with a very persuasive salesperson. Do your research, discuss with your partner, decided together and determine the right choice.

If you are reading this, you are most probably engaged or to be wed if so, Congratulations are in order, Happy Planning!

Where to buy affordable engagement rings & wedding bands in Singapore - Sweet Bunny

If you are one who holds practicality over prestige, getting a bang for our buck for a reasonably priced yet quality ring is the ultimate goal for every gent's mind when it comes to popping the question.

In my case, I went along with my fiancé to purchase m engagement ring, I didn't want anything too huge or fancy because less is more isn't it? A tiny simple diamond was all I wanted, something that could be worn daily without the hassle or worry that gems would drop off etc.

Why we chose to get a Forever Mark engagement ring -Forever Mark came to mind because I really like the simplistic design of the solitary rings, the brand does promises each diamond is of great quality solitary rings and I love how m diamond sparkle and am glad it didn't cost a bomb either. We purchased a 0.2-carat diamond from Lee Hwa Causeway Point branch, just the way I like it tiny but practical and I am able to wear this ring as daily wear without the worry of attracting unwanted attention. There is even an option to trade in the ring for another Forever Mark ring; I felt that it was an excellent privilege.

Malls with a selection of boutique jewellery shops- I found that the malls such as Cause WayPoint and Bugis Junction had a wider selection of jewellery retailers located in their premises.

Causeway Point best place to shop for boutique jewellery-I found that causeway point was an excellent place to purchase jewellery, the boutiques are not massive they each have a good selection of jewellery bigger is not necessarily better, it can be overwhelming when you are spoiled for choice. Jewellery found at causeway point includes Goldheart, Lee Hwa, Poh Heng, SK Jewellery, Tian Poh all conveniently located at the same level so one trip of window shopping you would be able to roughly decide which store could cater to your taste.

Bugis Junction wide variety of boutique jewellers - SK stellar, Venus Tears, Lee Hwa, Meyson, SK gold, Goldheart, and Citigems. I found that the selection at Bugis was extensive, I somehow found it more stylish than jewellery located in the heartlands. I did go for a round of window shopping just to have an idea of what is available.

On the same day we purchased our wedding bands as well, here is a couple of factors we considered before making our choice:

Metal choices for wedding bands – We preferred white gold or platinum for our wedding bands, rather than yellow gold which is more valuable. A simple silver coloured band was what we were after. Previously platinum was stronger than and more malleable than white gold but it is common practice now to mix white gold with other alloys such as palladium to make it stronger. Both Platinum and white gold rings are of around the same pricing because a larger amount of platinum is required for one ring to give it the extra weight that gold has. I am not an expert in jewellery but I have worked with gold in the dental line previously. I understand what works go into working with gold and platinum.

Venus Tears Rings

Venus Tears Rings

Venus Tears best jewellery shop for wedding bands - I wanted a ring engraved with flowers and Sam wanted one which was simple with a touch of gold because his parents were on the more traditional side. I found the perfect pair at Venus Tears website, they have a range of elegant and simple wedding bands made of platinum. All rings are made to order and manufactured in Japan, The whole process was seamless and customer service at the Jem branch was top notch. I would definitely recommend Venus Tears to others.

A rabbit themed, bunny marriage proposal. Sweet Bunny - Lifestyle , Beauty & Travel Blogger Singapore

The Wedding Proposal In Singapore - Sam and I have known each other for about 3 years; we applied for a BTO together as well as started our wedding plans.

Proposing to a Girl - To my surprise, Sam desired to propose to me, not for the sake of formality but to show me his sincerity. Knowing that I am a feminist, he offers to plan my proposal with me, this may sound extremely unromantic but being a realist as well as not liking the idea of a man bend backwards to fulfil my every whim and fancy.

My Engagement Ring - I got to choose my own engagement ring; Sam knew that Forever Mark diamonds are of good quality and suggested that we go to a jewellery store to pick out one that I liked. It also saves us the trouble of resizing the ring and ensured that the design and cut were to my liking.

Our Wedding Proposal Venue - We instantaneously decided the venue should be at a Rabbitto cafe in Bangkok, our visit to the café last year left us with a lasting impression, we totally adore the cute fluffy critters, the rabbits were not aggressive, approachable and very curious. We are both born on the year of the rabbit also gave this venue more significance.

Our Wedding Proposal Photographer - Engaging a photographer was also on our list, we wanted to capture the magical moment when Sam asks for my hand in marriage. The idea was simply to get a reputable photographer oversea is not piece of cake, I searched online a couple months before our trip to Thailand for a good photographer, the language barrier was one of my main concerns as well.

I came across Natasha I Gillett’s webpage and was very impressed with her portfolio; she is a winner of several prestigious photographer awards. Contacting her was a breeze as she replies to her emails regularly. Booking a session with her has to be done in advance as she is very popular. A deposit was required and the transaction was fast and safe because it was done thru PayPal.

The Wedding Proposal Box - Sam bought me the most adorable ring box, engraved on to the log shaped wooden box was will you marry me, accompanied with 2 porcelain rabbits. They were perfect props for our engagement photo shoot. Sam also contacted the Café in advance to ask for permission to hold our photo shoot there as well as asked for the best time when to be at the café when it is not crowded.

The Rabbit Wedding Proposal Photoshoot - The day arrived when Sam proposed, we arrived early at the café where the staff was very accommodating and helpful, they helped us pick the best rabbits for the photoshoot, those they would happily allow us to snuggle and carry them. The rabbits were very curious about Natasha’s DSLR camera and would pop up right next to her to see what she was doing. Natasha was wonderful; she is cheerful, patient and helpful, gently giving us directions on some poses and ideas of good photos, the peter rabbit themed café was simply decorated and small but she had a great eye for the best shots.

Marriage Proposal Partner  - Sam isn’t a guy of many words nevertheless he displays his affections by caring for me, He got on one knee and presented me the ring we might have planned this blissful day together but surprisingly nothing felt rehearsed or fake, we just had a very enjoyable afternoon playing with the rabbits after he declared his love for me.
