Keep Lizards and Insects away with InsectOut's Magnetic Insect Screen Window Mesh - Sweet Bunny

If there is one thing that I really detest about pests, it is their droppings, I really absolutely hate lizard droppings, it sticks onto the walls and goodness knows where else in a home.

When dear and I were planning out our budget and expenses for our home, insect meshing the entire house was on top of the list. Keeping pests like mosquitoes, cockroaches, flies and even birds out from our home and taking care of our family’s well-being is a worthy cause.

I have to say InsectOut is an excellent vendor because Mindy is always ever ready to offer good advice and assistance whenever I drop her message. Call me kiasu but I contacted the vendor during my home renovation way before the window grills even were installed. Mindy shared the requirements and optimal way to have my grills install so that the mesh and grills of my window would be totally sealed with no gaps or spaces for the creepy crawlies to come into our home. I am thankful that Mindy highlighted the importance of ensuring my window grills were properly cased up as my contractor wasn’t aware and was going to install the grills in another way that wouldn’t allow my meshes to be installed properly.

Best insect mesh screen installation service in Singapore- InsectOut provides a custom made mesh service for all types of windows and grilled gates, they have a range of magnets that cleverly matches the colours of window grills enabling it to blend well with its surrounding grills and will not be an eye-sore to look at. The scenery outside will not be blocked by the mesh and you can even leave the window open and fresh air and sunlight in. The mesh used is also very durable because it is made out of fibreglass which is easy to maintain just by washing and wiping with a microfiber cloth or even just using the vacuum to remove any dust, just as you would with your aircon filter. The mesh is secured between 2 interlocking grooved magnetic strips and grooved PVC strips. The strips are not permanent and can be removed if you are renting a property you can consider installing these insect meshes.

After my renovation was completed, I arranged with Mindy to speak to one of InsectOut’s sales representatives, Mr TC who was very friendly and informative about InsectOut’s Magic Seal product. After we agreed to proceed with the installations he took the measurements of all our windows and matched the colour of our grills to the samples that he has. The next visit was made by Mr Malek a soft-spoken and hardworking individual who helped us install the mesh, when we asked him if he would like to take time off for lunch he smiled and said he had a heavy breakfast before he stopped by.

Verdict, we love the meshes, when I first moved into my flat I was contently bitten by mosquitos, a baby lizard visited our kitchen and flying cockroaches came as and when they pleased through our window after the meshes were installed I have not seen any of these pests enter our home through the window, only a few tiny cockroaches from the drainpipe which I have since placed cockroach bate near and haven’t seen any since and the ultra-tiny housefly that may have come through the door as we enter our home. It has been a year since the mesh has been installed and we face no issues at all, the best part is Mindy is just a message away if we need any assistance.

Getting InsectOut to install the meshes is one of the best choices we have made and would highly recommend them who seeks to keep pest out of their homes

Clay Earrings in Singapore Featuring The Shy Crafter - Sweet bunny/The Shy Crafter

I am guilty of spending too much time on Instagram but who can blame me when there are so many awesome artists and crafters showcasing their delicately made handy craft on the platform.

It all began when the_Shy_crafter followed my Instagram account naturally I would follow her back to lend her the support and soon before I knew it, I was hooked looking at the miniature food items she had made into earrings, pins and various other accessories.

Beautiful packaging for handmade products- I really adore how the_Shy_crafter packaged her items, I purchased a pair of adorable 9-layer Kueh, 九层糕 earrings and was just expecting it to be in a poly mailer bag and wrapped in bubble wrap but to my surprise, The packaging consisted of a plastic bag with a meaningful quote on it, a kraft box, a handmade card with a handwritten note and an alcohol swab which I felt was very thoughtful because I could use the swab to sterilise the earring studs. From how she packed her items you could tell that she pays a lot of attention to details and is a very caring person.

The earrings are just so adorable and well made and put together, with no signs of glue stains as you see in most mass-produced earrings. I also love the vibrant colours of the 9-layer Kueh and how the earring is so well finished that they glisten in the light. They are also not heavy and a breeze to put on because the plastic disc of the earrings provides support for the earlobes when wearing bigger and heavier earrings.

Reasons to buy handmade products- It is refreshing to have something made by hand rather than the factory mass-produced earrings. Clay art is painstakingly made by hand and takes a lot of time, patients and effort. They aren't cookie-cutter items and all have their unique aesthetics. It is very personal as the item was made and sometimes customised especially for you, not just something you pick off a shelf from a store.

I had such a great chat with her on Instagram that I knew I just have to invite her as a guest on my blog the second half of this post is by her.

the_Shy_crafter I’m a Singapore-based, self-taught clay enthusiast. Mother of 4 awesome kiddos.

A very crafty person by nature, l like to bake, crochet, embroidery, & draw too. I chanced upon polymer clay in December 2020, when relatives introduced it to my second son (who has Autism Spectrum Disorder). He loves to play with clay, to relieve his sensory-stress buildup. While facilitating his play, I discovered my love for clay moulding too.

Started “the_Shy_crafter” on Instagram on 27 December 2020 to feature my polymer clay pieces. Turning my clay pieces into wearables is my passion. Not only do I make earrings, but I also do pins, bracelets, necklaces, keychains, mobile phone charms & even figurines too! I also take custom orders.

I love making impressions of miniature food, local snacks especially. Since then, I’ve also made mini polymer clay desserts, flowers & even figures of paw friends!

My most popular designs are the Rainbow Kueh, Ang Ku Kueh & Tutu Kueh.

I take orders through IG dm @the_Shy_crafter and https://theshycrafter.cococart.co/

The Benefits of Meal Planning - Sweet bunny

I have created a weekly meal planner in an editable pdf format in A4; I found it useful and easily accessible without having the worry of losing a sheet of paper which I often do ironically. I love the fact that I can type in whatever I needed on my computer or mobile phone and erase and reuse this form over and over again, in some eco-friendly way? But some would argue that using anything that runs on electricity isn’t eco-friendly.

The fills in this list include:
Special events and your weekly groceries list.

Monday to Friday

Budget for the week

The actual amount you spend

Groceries list and cost of groceries

On the left corner is an illustration of a mother and a child which reminded me of my childhood helping my mom out in the kitchen. The drawing is by a dear friend of mine rincarinn an amazing artist from Indonesia.

At only SGD 1.00 I hope you can lend me your support :)

Benefits of a meal planner - You also can control the amount you eat with portion control ensure each day of the week has just enough ingredients for the week in this aspect, you are reducing the amount of food waste which is good for the environment because it lowers methane emissions from landfills and lowers your carbon footprint. My family and I used to hate the question what do you want to eat?

We used to have to rack our brains on what to cook at the last minute and end up going down to buy takeaway because we didn’t have the ingredients we require.

Benefits of a groceries list- The perks of having a groceries list is that it prevents you from overspending, if you stick to the list you would buy you only need and avoid impulse purchasing. I also prefer to plan my meals every week as this helps me visualise what I really would like to have for the week as well as helps me to make healthier choices.

Collate your family weekly shopping list with a whiteboard- I place a whiteboard on the fridge for my family members to fill up on items we have run out of and would like to replenish. We would each erase an item we bought in this way we avoid buying duplicates of a particular item. One of my clients had an idea of laminating the printable and pasting it on the fridge so it can be reusable, very clever indeed.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, do stay tuned because I have a lot more useful printables coming your way :)
